Self-Directed Language Learners

Learners

Think about these questions:
  • Do you review what you have learned regularly?
  • Do you practise what you learn as much as possible?
  • Do you make use of what you know about your own language to help you?
  • Do you try out what you know in real-life situations when you can?
  • Do you try to learn from other people - not only your teacher?
  • Do you experiment with English?
  • Do you take risks while using English?

This wiki will give you ideas of how to practise English within your Personal Learning Environment (PLE).

Important ➨ Mobile Device Users

You may need to edit your account settings, depending on whether you're using a laptop/desktop computer or some form of mobile device (tablet, phone, media player). If you can see a yellow area on the left side of the main wiki homepage, your settings are correct. If not, you're probably using a mobile device and need to change the setting:

  • tap on your member name at the top
  • then tap Settings - top right of screen
  • scroll down to the last option, Mobile Settings
  • It will show Use original version of the site
  • tap on that wording and it will change to Use mobile version of the site
  • tap Save
  • return to the homepage and off you go!

While you're in Accounts, also notice there are other cool things to do, such as add a photo, set your time zone, or customize other things. Why not have fun with it by adding a photo to your member name and then tell us why you chose it?
